October 2011

Hi All,

Another month has past and we are hurtling towards Christmas at an astonishing rate.

As usual, on the 2nd Saturday in October a group of Scquilters braved the wind and rain to meet at the Quilters Store. Below are photos of our show and tell.

There was of course much as chatting and gossip as there was sewing.

This is first timer Lillian chatting with Jan.

Here are Robyn and Shaaryn working away.

The lovely block was made by Lillian using a technique she had just learnt. (Apologies but I have forgotten who she learnt it from.

This beautiful embroidered quilt was made by Jan.

Jan also showed off these disappearing 9 patch blocks which she was making into a bag.

This beautiful woollen pincushion was Shaaryns.

Robyn had lots to tell, having recently returned from a trip to the states. She had this lovely bag which she got from a fabric store over there.

It had tape measure for handles.

She also brought along this very clever cushion that she had made. It is for resting your sewing on as you sew, so that it is resting at a good height and you are not hunching over.

Being totally disorganised that morning my show and tell was this couch quilt that I made many years ago, it happened to be the only thing to hand as I was dashing out the door.

Finally, we have this lovely fabric. Shaaryn donated a piece to be shared up among the meeting attendees as a challenge. We have to make something with it by the first meeting of next year. Shaaryn has suggested we might like to make a 12 inch block, we can then put the blocks together to make a charity quilt.

Our November meeting will be the last for the year, so we thought we would make it a bit of a Christmas break up. If everyone could bring a small plate for a shared lunch and if you would like to take part in a gift swap, a small gift to the value of $10.

  1. Hi to all my QLD friends I can't believe that Robyn and Jan were chatting! That's not like them at all
