12th September 2015

Apologies, our August Blog went into the abyss!

Not to worry, with a couple of us back from various holidays to the far end of the globe there was lots of chatter and some great show & tell this month.

12 Sept 2015 (18)

12 Sept 2015 (14) 12 Sept 2015 (15) 12 Sept 2015 (16)  How gorgeous is this reversible placemat & table runner quilt as you go set whipped up as a gift by Gail for a very lucky friend

12 Sept 2015 (1)These pretty red & blue fabrics are Margaret's purchase from a recent trip to Amsterdam

12 Sept 2015 (3) This is my hand made 1/4 inch hexi purse, started in Melbourne at AQC in April & finally finished in August. I loved making it & possibly have found a new addiction. Thanks must go to Helen Stubbings of Hugs n Kisses for a great class at AQC.

12 Sept 2015 (4) This little piece is also mine.  Just playing with felt to make a little console mat for my car in my favourite colour.

12 Sept 2015 (5) This little fellow is my key-ring purse. It has a zip to keep some parking meter change in.  A few little finishes for me for a change! I hope you’ve been sitting down for these reveals !!  I know, I’m shocked that I have show n tell too lol

12 Sept 2015 (6) The problem with not updating the blog straight away is that I’ve forgotten who appliquéd these blocks. Sorry!  Margaret’s perhaps?  I had pen & paper with me too……doh!

12 Sept 2015 (7)  Helen has been knitting :)

12 Sept 2015 (9) …..& designed and made this pretty bag

12 Sept 2015 (10) Julie finished a UFO complete with gorgeous quilting. This was a block of the month project a year or 2 ago I believe.

12 Sept 2015 (11) 12 Sept 2015 (12) 12 Sept 2015 (13)  Cynthia is enjoying making a sunbonnet Sue baby quilt which is coming along nicely.

Another lovely lunch was had and some absolutely totally calorie free amazing desserts were enjoyed by a couple of us. No photographic evidence this time, you’ll just have to believe me :)  Better still, join us next time?  Enquires to luv2sewthings@hotmail.com

Until next time,

Happy stitching,

11th July 2015

It was great to see Ann back with us after her world travels and great to hear about her visit & classes at the Paducah, Kentucky Quilt Show.  Welcome Sonia to our get together also, it’s always very nice to meet new people.

I should have taken a photo of Kayt’s bruised arm, it was one of the biggest bruises I had seen as the result of a car accident. We were all very pleased Kayt is ok & could join us.

Several of the girls had been on a 7 night retreat so there was lots of chatter about that too.

The food was once again delicious, the nutella donuts were a hit with a couple of the girls for dessert (while others of us put on kilos just looking at them) & with a new menu release mid month, we all look forward to what is on offer in August to tempt us :)  There are no food photo’s this month though you might spot an empty plate or two !

Now for some show and tell….

11 July 2015 (20) This little sweet purse also belongs to Ann

11 July 2015 (19) Debbie showed us her hexi project bag & was working on binding another project bag that was so very neatly made giving it a very professional look

And this little thread holder gave us all ideas on what to do with suffolk puffs to make neat little gifts etc.

11 July 2015 (23) Here we are sewing, talking and having a wonderful time together.  Will you be joining us in August?

11 July 2015 (26) There was even some free entertainment!!! One never quite knows what the day will bring when we all get together!

Until the 2nd Saturday in August, bye for now

11 April 2015 get together

A lovely day with mild Autumn weather to venture out for our monthly get together.

The selection of morning teas was again wonderful & the coffee was a welcome sight for those of us who wait patiently until 11am for the machine to stir to life!

Lunch was delicious though having not indulged in the coffee & cake, I was busily eating my crispy chicken strips with mango chutney & sweet chilli sauce and didn’t take photos. Sorry girls.  I shall endeavour to catch you all stuffing your faces next time lol

Now for the creativity…..

11 April 2015 (1)  11 April 2015 (16)Gail had two gorgeous Moda Bake Shop quilt tops for show and tell

11 April 2015 (2) Violet made this colourful quilt for her future grand baby – great thinking ahead Violet :)

11 April 2015 (3) Margaret finished the cushion she began in a class at the craft show

11 April 2015 (4) I brought along my completed hexi turtles and Easter egg gift purse

11 April 2015 (5) We were all listening to Marg at this point I think? She’s a good story teller!

Kayt had a mug rug to show and tell, both sides were pieced differently and it turned out really well.  Her other finish was a counting book for her new grandchild which we all agreed is a great idea and it turned out so well.

11 April 2015 (6) 11 April 2015 (7)

Helen has been busily hand piecing these gorgeous pretties

 11 April 2015 (9) 11 April 2015 (10)

Marg had some mug bags underway, some finished to. She’s the mug bag queen, there’s no disputing that!

11 April 2015 (11) 11 April 2015 (12)

11 April 2015 (13) Violet was hand piecing to today, lovely colour combination :0)

Krys joined us and gave her needle an outing as Julie teased, sitting beside Violet & the two of them keeping the waitress on her toes !

11 April 2015 (14) Kayt was hand quilting….11 April 2015 (18)having brought along this beautiful quilt she had finished. The camera didn’t do the colours justice, it was stunning!

11 April 2015 (15)    Julie has all but finished this crochet knee rug and had a boxy pouch with her sewing bits and pieces in. 11 April 2015 (20)

All in all, another lovely day with food, friends and laughs.  We missed Ann & Debbie who are in different parts of the world at the moment having a wonderful time by all accounts.  See you all hopefully in May :)

Happy Stitching,

Sharon
